Compensation Details:
- Underwriter 14 or 15: $57,048 - $76,065 (14) or $63,894 - $85,194 (15) plus a performance-based incentive
or
- Underwriter 16: $72,840 - $97,121 plus a performance-based incentive
or
- Underwriter 17: $83,037 - $110,717, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week.
- This role will be performed from one of the community hubs in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) or EDC’s Headquarters in Ottawa. Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team & Job Overview:
The MidMarket Lending Solutions group is home to the International Financing direct (MML) team, a pillar of EDC’s 2030 Medium Segment Strategy delivering impactful financing support to growth companies in the segment. MML is developing deep customer relationships with Canadian medium-sized firms directly, in order to deliver customized, non-dilutive, patient capital solutions that catalyze growth and accelerate international expansion.
Working as a financing professional focused on company growth strategies, and using deep knowledge of commercial lending, corporate finance, and capital markets principles, the officer will work in a deal team environment within the Ontario regional office network. The officer must work in an agile and virtual team dynamic alongside consultative services supplied from Ottawa other regional offices across Canada, and from resources located internationally.
MML is a dedicated financing solutions delivery team that works with specialized account management teams that bring the full suite of EDC’s products and services to those Canadian medium-sized firms who choose to partner with us.
Experienced Financing Managers are accountable for both underwriting and post-commitment management of a portfolio of midmarket loan assets. Analysts and Senior Associates support each of the Financing Managers in MML across Canada with modelling, credit analysis and scoring, research, underwriting, documentation, negotiation and pricing activities.
The successful candidate shall demonstrate a keen sense of financial curiosity to understand businesses risk drivers, entrepreneurial approaches to generating enterprise value, adherence to collaborative relationships for problem solving, and EDC’s value proposition to the segment. MML’s financing can and does accelerate international growth.
What you will be doing:
- Participates in complex financing transactions and contributes to related activities, including research, credit and risk assessments, proposals and transaction documentation.
- Credit assessment, iterative customer dialogue to realize viable financing structures.
- Wholistic risk articulation of solutions, informed professional opinion and long-term viability and feasibility assessments.
- Supports Financing Managers with the management and monitoring of loan portfolios.
- Actively participates in internal discussions and external stakeholder engagements
- Shares knowledge across regional MML portfolio teams (Western, Quebec), the MidMarket Lending Solutions group (national), and related EDC groups.
What we are looking for:
- 0-2 years’ experience (Analyst) or minimum 2 years’ work experience (Senior Analyst or Senior Associate) in accounting, structured finance or similar commercial or corporate financing field(s) including capital markets.
- Excellent analysis, modeling skills, and ability to read and understand business plans and financial statements.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Undergraduate degree in Commerce or Economics.
Assets
- Bilingual in both official languages (English and French).
- Professional designation under CFA, CBV, CPA; MBA or similar.
