Manager-Environmental Services Operations-Philhaven-Day Shift

Location: WellSpan Health, Lebanon, PA
Schedule: Full Time

Full time (80 hours biweekly)

Monday - Friday 6a-2:30p

Weekend and holiday rotation

General Summary

Directs the activities of the Environmental Services and Laundry Department's for the purpose of maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Schedules and supervises the employees of the Environmental Services Department to ensure that all areas of the Hospital are kept in a safe and sanitary condition, as identified in the departmental procedure manual.
  • Works with the Laundry Supervisor to ensure an efficient operation of the Laundry Department.
  • Performs periodic inspections on employees for the purpose of assessing the quality and quantity of work performed by the employees. Counsels and trains employees when conditions do not meet acceptable standards to improve work performance. Completes performance appraisals, hiring, promoting, and disciplinary actions.
  • Makes changes to work assignments, as required, and assists employees with scheduled work.
  • Reviews assignments and cleaning methods used and determines necessary changes to assure the desired results.
  • Instructs and assists new employees in proper cleaning techniques and procedures. Identifies development needs of employees, and trains them in housekeeping techniques as defined in the departmental manual.
  • Assures all Housekeeping Aides are provided with necessary cleaning supplies. Stocks shelves, maintains a monthly inventory, and orders supplies.
  • Provides information to and attends Patient Flow, Customer Experience, Infection Control, and Sharps Committee meetings.
  • Gathers information to be included with the quarterly report to the Quality Improvement Committee.
  • Works with Guest Relations Manager to receive, document, and track "Lost and Found" items for the patients, visitors, and staff. Answers questions and makes inquires for the purpose of determining ownership of items.
  • Computes and completes employees timecards on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Enforces all Hospital policies and procedures as assigned by the Administration and/or by the Assistant Vice President for Support Services.
  • Demonstrates Guest Relation principles by listening, observing, and identifying the needs of others and responding to the concerns of others. Assists visitors, patients, and employees when needed. Promotes Hospital functions and activities.
  • Advises Assistant Vice President for Support Services of any emergency or unusual occurrences.
  • Performs the duties of a Housekeeping Aide to meet emergency situations

  • Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

  • 6 years Experience in institutional housekeeping. Required
  • Supervisory experience. Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have the ability to deal directly with people in a manner to produce effective cleaning service.
  • Must possess knowledge of chemical compounds, cleaning techniques, and acceptable cleaning standards.
  • Must be able to instruct, lead, and motivate others.
  • Must have the physical stamina to walk and stand most of the day and be able to work from a ladder.
  • Must maintain computer skills.
