Position Summary
The Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (IAD) at the University at Buffalo (UB) invites applications for two open-rank teaching faculty (lecturer) positions. We will consider candidates at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Teaching level in line with their experience and prior positions and offer competitive salaries.

The faculty’s primary duties are teaching graduate-level courses in the areas of artificial intelligence, data science, and computational science, and advising IAD students. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in and a passion for teaching courses in machine learning, artificial intelligence, data-intensive computing, data mining, database fundamentals, and related data models and queries. Other duties may include industry internship and student project supervision; experiential learning and student excellence initiatives; accreditation objectives; diversity enhancement; program administration; and external educational grant support.

About IAD
The IAD is the home of several graduate programs, i.e., a PhD program in Computational and Data-Enabled Science and Engineering (CDSE), an MS program in Engineering Science with Data Science focus (ESDS), an MS program in Engineering Science with Artificial Intelligence focus (ESAI), and an MPS program in Data Science Applications (DSA). IAD also conducts undergraduate courses and certificates in data science topics. IAD coordinates interdisciplinary research including applications of data, computer, and computational sciences across various domains. The primary responsibility of the advertised positions is for the MS-ESDS program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD degree in data science, computer science, computational sciences, applied mathematics, statistics, or a related field. Degree must be conferred or all academic requirements for conferral completed prior to appointment.
