OSCO is seeking skilled Maintenance Mechanics to join our team. Our Maintenance Mechanics play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing facility by performing maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and implementing preventative maintenance measures. The Maintenance Mechanic will be instrumental in maintaining production uptime and quality by ensuring efficient operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Duties

  • Ensures the smooth operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Helps to locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; and examining the form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipts.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized technical program or apprenticeship in mechanical maintenance preferred.
  • Proven experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the metal industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical systems and machinery.
  • Solid understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders and maintenance activities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and respond to emergency maintenance calls outside of regular working hours.
  • Physical strength and stamina to perform manual tasks, lift heavy objects, and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Safety focus (Personal protective equipment [PPE] required in manufacturing facilities)
  • Prior experience operating fork-truck lifts is a plus.
  • A strong desire to learn on the job is a plus.
