Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Instructor (Patient Care Technician) position, in the Academic and Student Affairs division.  This position is located on Atlanta Tech's main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta. 

Under general supervision, the Patient Care Technician Instructor will be responsible for instructing and supervising students in the Patient Care Technician Program. 

 Duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques and develops course outlines, goals and objectives;   
  • Monitors and manages the class schedules for the non-credit Patient Care Technician program, as well as the program's master course schedule;
  • Assists in addressing all aspects of verifying program learning outcomes and follows approved curriculum standards and course syllabi;
  • Prepares and delivers quality curriculum with daily instruction of students;
  • Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements;
  • Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills and knowledge of current procedures in the Nursing field;
  • Follow approved curriculum standards and course syllabi;
  • Assist with student recruitment and job placement, as well as advises and counsels students while maintaining appropriate records on each student;
  • Monitors student use of supplies, materials, and equipment and maintains classrooms and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and management plans;
  • Conducts off-site visits to classroom lab and clinical sites to ensure proper instruction.;
  • Observes and enforces the institution's policies and regulations.
  • Serves on committees and maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia
  • Attends meetings as required, and meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students, as needed;
  • Assist with development and review of program, syllabi, goals and objectives according to approved curriculum and course syllabi standards;
  • Follow and enforce rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess and demonstrate an Associate's Degree in Nursing.  Must possess and demonstrate an active license as a Registered Nurse in Good Standing with the Georgia Board of Nursing; and possess and demonstrate two (2) years of work related experience as a Registered Nurse with one (1) year of clinical experience as a Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse in a Long-Term Care Facility.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates that possess and demonstrate a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and five years or more of clinical experience and educational teaching experience

 

Certifications/Licenses:

  • American Heart Associate CPR certified;
  • Holds a Train-the-Trainer Certificate or obtain the certificate upon hire;
  • Currently licensed in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse and deemed in good standing; and
  •  Registered Nursing in the State of Georgia.

May be required to teach at other locations and other locations within the community.
