Under the general supervision of the Director of OBGYN Ambulatory Services and the Administrative Nurse III, provides all clinical nursing services and support to the reproductive endocrinology and infertility division. Participates in the coordination of patient care, triaging of patient questions, patient education and acts as a liaison between the patient and physician. You will travel and work at other department clinics throughout the community as assigned by the supervisor for coverage. Other duties, as assigned.
Salary Range: $62.43 – $92.81 Hourly
- Current CA RN License
- Possession of BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing and 1 year of clinical experience
- Demonstrated ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment under minimal supervision; identify potential problems; create solutions; and recognize opportunities for development and expansion of the IVF program.
- Ability to accurately prepare a variety of forms including hospital referral forms, insurance claim forms, and patient follow-up forms.
- Skill in operating an IBM compatible PC and Macintosh with working knowledge of Word, Excel, Exchange email and electronic medical software programs.
- Ability to set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work with multiple interruptions.
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with physicians, patients, staff and outside providers with diplomacy, cooperativeness, sensitivity and compliance with HIPPA policies.
- Must have problem solving skills to deal with complex clinical situations and data.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and specifically OBGYN terminology
- Skill in maintaining and updating patient records electronically.
- Ability to clearly explain procedures to patients and family members.
- Ability to modify systems (computer based and non-computer based) to meet the changing needs of the physicians and patients. Good computer skills/ability to track patient data on IVF database and track patient attendance at required IVF classes.
- Experience arranging laboratory tests, procedures and treatments and obtaining results.
- Ability to establish priorities given multiple demands.
- Ability to function as a team member.
- Ability to work in a hectic environment with numerous interruptions.
- Ability to attend to details and follow through without reminders.
- Ability to research and resolve problems independently and in a timely manner.
- Skill in coordinating complex appointment scheduling.

- Ability to complete assignments and meet deadlines within the context of a heavy workload with interruptions and changing priorities.
- Ability to develop educational materials and to provide training using adult learning principles.
- Ability to provide on-call coverage 1-2 weekends per month and some holidays.
- Expertise in communicating with patients and their families with diplomacy and sensitivity.
- Ability to exhibit flexibility in adjusting to changing demands and requirements of the position.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel to department clinics, as assigned.
- Extensive knowledge of reproductive endocrinology and infertility care, treatment and procedures
- Knowledge of UCLA Medical Center and its administrative procedures.
- Knowledge of medical insurance and claims processing.
- Ability to assure that patients are accurately billed for visits, exams, procedures, and surgeries.
- Working knowledge of the policies and procedures of Medi-care, Medi-cal, and private insurance companies.
- Experience scheduling patient appointments in electronic systems
