Job Description
This is a 9-month, full-time position

The pharmacy technician is a 9-month position reporting to the Pharmacy Manager. The licensed pharmacy technician is responsible for assisting with the reconciliation of third party claims and providing medication to the SU student population.

Duties include counting tablets, labeling bottles, organizing inventory, alerting the pharmacist of stock shortages, ordering of medications, processing insurances, cleaning equipment and work areas, answering calls to the pharmacy, stocking inventory, receiving orders and referring any questions regarding prescriptions, drug info or health matters to a pharmacist.
Qualifications
High School diploma and should be a certified as a pharmacy technician in the state of New York.
Job Specific Qualifications
The pharmacy technician, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, will be responsible for performing a number of pharmacy related tasks and help assist with the reconciliation of third party claims.
Responsibilities
Assist Pharmacist by performing the following duties:
  • Answering pharmacy phone calls
  • Assisting students with filling prescriptions
  • Accurately counting medication quantities to be dispensed
  • Prescription labeling
  • Organizing inventory
  • Will refer questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health related matters to a registered pharmacist, including any allergies, need for medication alternatives, or questions that are health related such as drug interactions.
  • Receiving orders from Health Services providers as well as outside providers
  • Alerting the pharmacist of any stock shortages.
  • Reconcile third party reimbursements in the ProPharm system.
