 Purpose of Job Position

The primary purpose of this job position is to provide assistance for dietary functions and perform duties as may be directed by your supervisor. All duties and assignments must be performed according to established policies and procedures and current federal, state and local regulations and guidelines that govern St. Luke.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Personnel Functions

  1. Ensure that activities and delivery of services help to support the mission of St. Luke Lutheran Community.
  2. Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with St. Luke’s established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors.
  3. Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes, in services and orientation programs.
  4. Assure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.

Dietary Service

  1. Prepare utensils and supplies for trayline.
  2. Clean trayline and other miscellaneous cleaning duties as assigned.
  3. Mop and clean floors in kitchen area. Clean and maintain storeroom areas.
  4. Wash and clean utensils, dishes, pots and pans.
  5. Return clean utensils, dishes, pots and pans, to proper storage areas.
  6. Participate in trayline serving activities as directed.
  7. Load food trays into hot carts.
  8. Empty trash cans and take trash to compactor.
  9. Break down boxes from supply deliveries and remove from work area.
  10. Stock cold vending machines daily.

Safety and Infection Control

  1. Practice established infection control methods, safety precautions and universal precautions practices when performing all duties and using equipment and supplies.
  2. Report all hazardous conditions or equipment and safety violations to your supervisor immediately.
  3. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor on the shift in which they occur.

Working Conditions

  1. Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
  2. Subject to frequent interruptions.
  3. Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.

 

  1. May work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
  2. May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including the HIV and Hepatitis B viruses.
  3. Communicates with dietary personnel and other department personnel.
  4. May be exposed to heat/cold temperatures in kitchen/storage area.
  5. Works in well-lighted/ventilated areas.
  6. Subject to wet floors, hot equipment, odors etc. throughout the workday.

Education/Experience

  1. Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education.
  2. Previous experience preferred, but not necessary.

Specific Requirements

  1. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  2. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.
  3. Must possess patience and the ability to work effectively with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  4. Must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age.
  5. Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition.

Wage: $11.20/hour

Details: Full time or part time (may work flexible hours between available shifts 6:30am-8:30pm)

7:00am – 3:30pm

11:30am-close (8:30pm)

4pm – close (8:30pm) (only pt positions available for this shift)
