Job Description | This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position responsible for contributing significantly to Stephen F. Austin State University’s undergraduate and/or graduate programs through teaching, scholarship/creative accomplishment, and service. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the chair. |

Required Education | Terminal degree in the field in which the individual will be teaching is required. ABD candidates may be considered if Ph.D. is earned prior to start date. |

Other Specifications | The Department of Physics, Engineering, and Astronomy at Stephen F. Austin State University is looking for outstanding applicants for a tenure-track Mechanical Engineering faculty position at the assistant professor rank. The ideal candidate will possess a terminal degree in engineering or equivalent, with special consideration given to degrees in mechanical engineering. Ability to design and conduct experiential education in engineering disciplines is preferred. Expertise aligned with the support for classes taught in mechatronics, robotics, control systems, and numerical methods . Tenure-track faculty are expected to maintain excellence in teaching, conduct undergraduate research with students, and participate in departmental and university service. We seek candidates whose experience in research, teaching, and service will add to the development of a new Mechanical Engineering undergraduate degree in which many courses will be taught for the first time. |

Benefit and Retirement Eligibility | This position is eligible for participation in the Optional Retirement Program (ORP), subject to the position being full-time and at least 4 ½ months in length, or the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. |
