Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector, Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD) is seeking a qualified Senior Principal Systems Engineer for the role of System Thread Lead for a Satellite Mission program. This position is located on-site in Dulles, VA or Gilbert, AZ. Successful candidates for this position will work in a technical systems thread (i.e. one or more subsystems) lead role for the Satellite Missions business area and offers the opportunity to work on exciting, cutting-edge programs and new mission areas.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and review requirements, verification plans, and architecture at all levels of the System
- Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
- Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into lower level specifications
- Integrate complex design elements across multiple teams and vendors of the program
- Coordinate with all levels of the program to ensure a comprehensive system design
- Ensure system hardware and software teams are developing and design their content that meet the system requirements
- Provide subject matter expertise for the Thread to the program
- Brief program leadership, customers, and stakeholders on the on the Thread
- Engage in formal and informal mentoring to support knowledge transfer and talent development.
- Performing demonstrations and conducting briefings explaining test procedures and processes
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with at least 8 years of applicable experience or Master’s degree with 6 years of applicable experience.
- Must have US Citizenship with current or active Top Secret Clearance at time of application.
- Experience in systems engineering to include architectural studies, technical baseline definition, requirements & interface management, hardware/software integration, test planning & execution, or operational support
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience coordinating the efforts of diverse stakeholders
- Experience in system architecture, CONOPs development, or model-based system engineering
- Experience with various technical tools such as MATLAB, STK, CORE, DOORS, or CAMEO
- Current or active TS/SCI
