An employer is looking for a Tier II NOC Engineer to work in Charlotte, NC, covering a 11am-8pm EST on a rotating 5 day schedule. This person will be providing tier II support to proactively monitor and maintain customers' networks. Customers include carriers, schools, hospitals, government, and enterprise companies. This person will be committed to monitoring the customers' networks for alarms and contacting customers directly to work through the network issues. Manual configurations of network routers and switches, some troubleshooting of VoIP issues, along with in depth troubleshooting of overall layer 2 and layer 3 network issues will fall under this person's responsibilities. It is essential that this person be an excellent communicator and flexible to work on call hours as required per the rotation. Lastly, a CCNA will be strongly preferred for this role.

Experience tier II network support and troubleshooting
Manual configurations of Cisco and/or Ciena routing and switching
Manual configurations of Spanning Tree Protocol
Configurations of vLANs
Understanding of Telnet protocol basics
Knowledge of IP stacking
Some VoIP knowledge and hands on troubleshooting experience
Telecom or Service Provider background
Microsoft suite proficiency
Ability to speak of network technologies in vendor neutral terms
