Overview




The Volunteer Coordinator (VC) is responsible for identifying priorities for the volunteers on their shift and delegating appropriratly. VC will be volunteer main point of contact during evenings and weekends. VC will help to coordinate tours for groups, greet meal and baking teams and help with first-phase training for all new volunteers.

The VC reports directly to the Volunteer Program Director. He/She advances the mission of the Ronald McDonald House ("RMH") in a manner consistent with the excellent quality of services provided to families in crisis.

In the spirit of teamwork, the VM collaborates with RMH staff and volunteers to provide support and assistance in the fulfillment of their goals and objectives.

Responsibilities




First-phase training for new evening and weekend volunteers. Supervision of volunteers during evenings and weekends: leading ongoing trainings, group activities scheduling, communicating specific projects/tasks and acknowledging groups.
Ensure that "House Supply" is stocked adequately, informing Volunteer Director of current needs.
Work with Communications Manager to identify groups to highlight in communications tools.
Conduct follow up calls and electronic communication with volunteer groups and offer additional engagement opportunities. Continue to nurture community groups and refer them to the Development Director when appropriate.
Create and maintain a comfortable environment that encourages family cooperation and a home-like atmosphere. Show hospitality and respect to all guests and provide emotional and psychological support when needed.
Motivate and encourage volunteers to accomplish the task at hand while creating a fun atmosphere for the volunteer team


Qualifications




Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Must have knowledge of Ronald McDonald House Charities - previous volunteer experience preferred.



Computer proficiency, including familiarity with all MS Office products and database software.



Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to work in a flexible, team oriented environment.

Self-directed and able to successfully complete projects assigned with a minimum of supervision.

Must have a valid driver's license.
