Job Description

ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATOR, Music and Theater Arts (MTA) Section- Music Technology Master’s Program, to assist with developing and leading the administration of the graduate program, including both academic and programmatic activities. Will have responsibility for the program’s day-to-day operations and work in conjunction with the program’s faculty leadership.

The Music and Theater Arts Section in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences is united in the pursuit of artistic, intellectual, creative, and technical excellence. Simultaneously, MIT’s focus on multidisciplinary research and education encourages initiatives that cut across MIT’s schools. One such area is music technology. Beginning in academic year 2025-26, MTA and the School of Engineering will launch a master’s program in music technology and computation. As MTA’s first graduate program, it presents a rare opportunity to join an entrepreneurial team leading a new initiative.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; at least three years of academic administration experience; meticulous attention to detail; strong computer skills and willingness/ability to learn new systems; excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; and the ability to prioritize, complete tasks and develop solutions to problems and implement them, work independently and as a team member, and maintain sensitive and confidential information.  PREFERRED:  master’s degree and experience in higher education.  Job #23995-8

Salary range (pay grade 8): $73,490 - 98,283, starting salary commensurate with experience

Occasional weekday evening and weekend work will be required.
