Starting Salary Range: $100,000 - $117,500 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.

As an Engineer/Planner II – Economic Studies, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing transmission expansions to mitigate energy market inefficiencies through advanced production cost modeling tools. You'll also help shape the grid of the future by developing innovative solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and building strong partnerships with MISO stakeholders.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform transmission planning studies and design strategies to align with state and federal policy requirements.
  • Analyze operational scenarios in a simulated environment to identify potential challenges and opportunities.
  • Assess the financial advantages for companies exploring MISO membership.

Within your first year as an Engineer/Planner II – Economic Studies, success will look like this:

  • You demonstrated your ability to balance and prioritize multiple long-term projects to meet department objectives.
  • You demonstrate your ability to support economic study work and collaborate with appropriate teams as needed.
  • You developed and utilized an in-depth understanding of the policy and business drivers guiding the MISO transmission planning process(s).
  • You built a network of colleagues within MISO and the industry.
  • You demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and growth by actively engaging in stakeholder interactions and seeking mentorship opportunities.

We are looking for talented professionals who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in one of several disciplines. Please refer to the list below for the qualifying degrees and desired job related experience.

    Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.

    Experience in electric energy resource planning, energy policy, electric power industry economics, power plant and transmission line modeling, or project management.

    Experience with PROMOD, PROMOD Analysis Tool (PAT), PSS/E, Transmission Adequacy Reliability Assessment (TARA).
