JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Sign Language Lab at the University
of Wisconsin - Madison seeks a Research Coordinator to join the lab with
an approximate start date of August 24, 2024. The lab is broadly
interested in sign language documentation, specifically local sign
languages from Guatemala, and language acquisition and socialization in
American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English in early elementary
classrooms in the United States. The Research Coordinator will support
the technical and administrative needs of the lab. This is a part-time
position subject to the availability of funds. The position is ideal for
candidates interested in sign language research who are seeking to build
skills and explore research interests prior to applying to selective PhD
programs and will provide dedicated mentorship and professional
development including opportunities for co-authorship, conference
presentations, and independent research. Responsibilities: Supports the
development, design, and implementation of research projects according
to plans, under the general direction of faculty and/or senior research
personnel, following established protocols and guidelines to support and
advance research in a given field under general supervision. 40% Assists
with conducting experiments or interviews, collecting and analyzing
data, and documenting results according to established protocols 15%
Assists in composing and organizing research reports and manuscripts to
provide updates on unit objectives 5% Schedules logistics and secures
resources for research supplies, equipment, and facilities 5% Tracks
supply and equipment inventory levels and places replenishment orders
15% Maintains organization of research records according to established
policies and procedures 5% Assists with management of external datasets
and coordination with partner institutions 10% Assists with coding and
annotation of video data, participant recruitment and communication in
English and American Sign Language (ASL) 5% Assists with supervision and
