Position Summary Information

Objective
Perform part-time operations of the construction trade program at College Station ISD.
Essential Duties
1. Provide instruction in credit construction trade courses following NCCER curriculum
2. Track and document student mastery of NCCER competencies
3. Submit NCCER documentation to college program staff for submission o NCCER database
4. Model lab safety protocols for students at all times
5. Require all students to follow lab safety protocols at all times
6. Once a year attend professional development for dual credit carpentry instruction, as provided by the college
7. Maintain office hours as set by the College.
8. Prepare course syllabus, which includes stated objectives for the course.
9. Stay current on developments regarding instructional methodology particularly supplemental, blended or on-line instruction and related instructional theories.
10. Assist in making recommendations to the program coordinator regarding curriculum additions, deletions, or revisions.
11. Utilize college’s online Desire2Learn system to provide syllabus, student attendance, and student grades related to the dual credit course in real-time to students and college.
12. Provide a grade evaluation on each student’s performance in a timely fashion and frequency required by the College.
13. Perform other Carpentry program related tasks, and attend part-time faculty meetings as assigned.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
An associate degree in a related field. At least 36 months work experience as a full-time construction trade worker; knowledge and experience in all phases of home construction; knowledge and experience with all tools required for construction trades; ability to read blueprints and specifications to determine a work plan;
Must be a current employee of College Station ISD
Preferred Experience and Training
A bachelor degree in a related field. At least five years work experience as a full-time construction trade worker; experience training carpenters, and construction helpers/apprentices; experience teaching adults in a classroom setting; a recognized certification in carpentry or construction trades.
Physical Requirements
Ability to use a variety of hand tools and carpentry specific tools; able to climb ladders to heights of at least 20 feet; able to lift 50 pounds to a height of three feet; able to perform all normal and expected duties of a carpenter.
Required Degree, License or Certifications
Minimum associate degree in a related field; prefer a bachelor degree in a related field.
