Camp Counselor

Big Canyon Country Club is currently looking for Camp Counselors who, under the direction of the Wellness Supervisor, will help assist, lead, and monitor a variety of exciting activities throughout the 2025 summer program.

Summer Camp begins on June 9^th and runs through August 15^th, Monday through Friday. New Hire Orientation is in May. Shifts vary between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. We are looking for individuals who will be able to work the full 10 weeks.

Duties & Expectations

• Greet parents and children during check-in when they arrive.
• Supervise and facilitate children’s activities. Be creative, energetic, and lead structured games while always ensuring general safety.
• Attend to any individual needs of the children i.e. bathroom use, changing clothes, injuries.
• Support the Wellness Supervisor in establishing rules and emergency procedures with the campers.
• Ability to problem solve and communicate information to the Wellness Supervisor.
• Clean up the camp area at the end of the day and collect all lost and found items.
• Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager

Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Previous experience as a camper or counselor is desirable, however, experience working with children and exhibiting child and behavior management is required.
• Must have excellent communication skills and take direction.
• Some light lifting and carrying of children as well as pushing/pulling objects.
• Walking and standing for extended periods of time.
• Occasionally bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, and reaching above the shoulder.
• Participating in various recreational activities.
• Must be able to swim and have willingness to perform in water supervision of children.
• There will be Indoor/outdoor facilities, swimming pools, and exposure to the sun.
• Special skills such as being proficient and able to teach a particular sport and/or ability to play and share a musical instrument and/or skill or originality in crafts will be advantageous.
• First Aid, AED, and CPR Certification is desired.
• Possess a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with all departments and members
