General Description:
This is a job description to record the primary duties and tasks assigned to the position of staff accountant. This position reports to the assistant controller and serves as a backup to most other accounting functions.
Functions:
- Accounting
- Make regular general ledger journal entries via manual and template process
- Assists in prepare monthly financial statements, schedules and reports
- Prepare monthly commission spreadsheets and report
- Prepare various reports and spreadsheets as assigned by the assistant controller.
- Accounts Payable
- Act as a backup for the Accounts Payable process and check printing.
- Accounts Receivable
- Post customer cash receipts and miscellaneous reimbursements
- Prepare customer invoices and their transmittal to our customers. Must understand the shipping and auto invoice preparation process
- Budgeting
- Assist in the annual budget preparation process
- Costing / Pricing
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of the monthly ABC costing spreadsheet
- Inventory
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of cycle-count and annual inventories, this includes: raw material, WIP, and finished goods, production tooling, master tooling and other assets.
- Payroll
- Process weekly payroll in ADP and Plex
- Prepare payroll reports and spreadsheets as assigned by the assistant controller
- Purchasing
- Act as a backup for processing purchase requisitions and purchase orders
- Other
- Perform other projects and tasks assigned by the assistant controller or CFO
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited four-year college or university highly preferred.
- Reputation for ethical decisions and behavior.
- Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office applications–Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience in Manufacturing and with Plex ERP systems is a plus.
- Solid understanding of GAAP.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good organizational skills and an eye for detail.
Mathematical skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
Reasoning ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
