Senior Engineering Project Manager - Swift
Engineering Project Managers (EPMs) are key to Apple’s success in delivering impactful customer experiences across its vast ecosystem. We bridge teams and drive cross-functional collaboration to surpass what any individual team might achieve on their own, expanding the possibilities of what we can build as a company.
The Swift Language Team at Apple is evolving the Swift programming language and adding support for new use cases and platforms. We are looking for an experienced, energetic, and motivated project/program manager to drive progress on large scale initiatives for the Swift Language Team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organization skills, a mastery of task management, and a thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle
As an EPM, your responsibilities include:
Partnering with engineering and product to define and deliver project roadmaps, schedules, and milestones
Authoritatively presenting project status to multi-functional teams as well as executive management
Offering cross-functional management for Swift, interacting with adopting teams to ensure responsiveness to critical priorities
Working independently and proactively to positively influence others teams to drive project outcomes
Operating internal tools and bug tracking software to make quantitative assessments on project progress and update plans as needed
- At least 6 years of experience in project/program management of software development
- Strong technical intuition and understanding of basic engineering concepts with strengths in distilling complex design and process problems to their essential components
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across varied audiences in a climate of debate
- Sound executive presence with the strong ability to communicate at the senior leadership levels in written and verbal form
- Resilience and interest in complex problem-solving within a challenging and fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to implement project management principles including planning and organization, risk management, leadership, stakeholder engagement, and problem solving
- Software or hardware release management experience at a large scale
- Knowledge of operating systems, compilers, integrated development environments and other developer tools
- Experience working with developers, open-source communities, or technical users to gather feedback and drive product improvements
- Ability to think strategically and tactically and to build consensus in achieving project outcomes; ability to resolve technical issues and resource conflicts
