Job Description

Starting: May 2025
East Montpelier has an opening for a full-time Public Works Crew member. The position is 40 hours per week with on call status as needed. Must be a team player, able to work independently and lift up to 100 lbs. We will train the right candidate for CDL, Highway maintenance, large equipment operation, etc. Some preferred skills include highway maintenance or related, mechanical skills (including greasing, oil changes, changing tires, mounting equipment, repair of engines, axles, transmissions, exhaust systems and other auto systems), operating chain saw, welder, brush cutter and other equipment, knowledge of safety regulations, and ability to operate heavy machinery, operate heavy trucks, grader, bucket loader, backhoe, snow plow, sander, steamer, and other mechanical equipment, including welder, chain saw, cutting torches, paint sprayer and press, perform hand shoveling, lifting of equipment, 100 lb. bags, culverts, guard rails, rocks and soils, hand removal of brush and fallen trees, culvert cleaning, and other duties as assigned by the Road Foreman.
