Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals since 1964.Oneonta Job Corps offers training in the Medical Trades: Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, and Medical Administrative Assistant. Automobile trades: Auto Body Collision and Repair, and Auto Mechanics, Auto Technician. Construction Trades: Tile Setting, Cement Mason, and Electrical. Advanced Trades: Overhead Line Electrical, Rural Underground Distribution, SMART Meter, and Drone Piloting. Position Available: Recreation SpecialistWe are seeking a Recreation Specialist, who provides recreational and leisure time activities to support our mission, by giving our students a higher level of confidence, emotional and mental stability, optimism, and independence. You will ensure students attain a proper balance in their lives between academics, vocational training, and recreational activities. Our facility offers an impressive weight room, arts and crafts room, and basketball/volleyball courts, as well as allowing for off-center recreational activities such as hiking, paintball, and photography. The sky is the limit as to what special talent you may offer and share with our students!As a Recreation Specialist, you will: Organize and supervise off-center and on-center recreation activities for studentsAssist in developing and implementing diverse programs to include: arts, and crats, instrumentals, cultural events, and other recreational enrichment programsGuide students to make informed lifestyle choices concerning fitness, nutrition, and healthy lifestylesPrepare schedules and calendars for all recreational activitiesCoordinate student field tripsMaintain recreation facilities, equipment, and materials to center standardsTrack and record program attendance Order and maintain recreational equipment, supplies, and materialsProvide transportation of students to and from center-sponsored eventsRecognize and reinforce students' positive behaviorWe are seeking someone who has:Proven ability to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate recreation programsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal Knowledge of operational practices and principles of recreation programsProficient in rules and regulations of common sports and gamesKnowledge of fitness, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle practicesProficient in the use of common computer software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
