Overview




Night Shift: (7:00pm-7:30am).

24 hours per week available (0.6 FTE).

Every other weekend required and Holiday rotation.

Benefits Eligible.

Position starts at $19.00 an hour plus shift and weekend differentials. Pay to commensurate with experience.

The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for performing basic supportive care to specified patients/families under the direction and supervision of an RN/Care Manager. Collects, documents, and reports data to the RN Care Manager but does not interpret data. Demonstrates competence in providing age-appropriate care and service for pediatric patients from birth to 21 years, and selected adults.

H2B PICU provides multidisciplinary care for critically ill patients ranging from infants to young adults.
We care for high acuity patients with a vast variety of conditions, including trauma, burn, transplant, respiratory, surgical, neurological, endocrinological, renal, oncological, neurosurgical, sepsis, and other various medicaal conditions.
We function as a collaborative, multidisciplinary team working together to provide best possible care and outcomes to our patients and families. We implement bedside rounds twice daily, inclusive of the multidisciplinary team and families.

Responsibilities




Performs clerical office coordination and administrative tasks as necessary.
Collects, documents, and reports vital signs such as: blood pressure or mean arterial pressure, heights, and weights. Completes screening questions and documents all items into medical record.
Promotes general patient safety and performs minor specimen testing. Holds, positions patients and assists with procedures. Preps all materials and supplies as needed.
Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism and ensures confidentiality of patient information.
Ensures environmental standards are met and all clinic and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
Identifies learning needs and attends continuing education as appropriate. Participates in educational activities offered by the business unit. Acts as a preceptor of orientation and training of other PCA staff.


Qualifications




Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.

Licensure & Experience Required:

Active State Tested Nursing Assistant OR



One year of comparable experience in a hospital setting within the past three years OR



Nursing students can qualify if they have successfully completed the fundamentals of nursing course(s) of an approved college/school program.

- Basic Life Support Certification required upon hire.

Skills:
1. Sound written and verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
2. Demonstrated basic computer skills.
3. Must demonstrate competence as defined in the Patient Care Assistant responsibilities/skills checklist in providing age appropriate care and services to pediatric patients of all ages and selected adult patients.
4. Displays a positive presence and interacts with all levels of staff, outside vendors, consultants, and physicians.

Minimum Physical Requirements:
Occasionally, 1-33% of the time: Climb stairs/ladder; sitting; lifting/carrying 41-60lbs, 61-100lbs, +100lbs with assistance. May come into contact with fumes, gases, vapors, biohazard waste, machinery, and power tools.

Frequently, 34-66% of the time: Squat/kneel; reaching above shoulder; repetitive arm and hand use. Lifting/carrying 40lbs; pushing/pulling 0-61lbs; depth perception-vision. May come into contact with blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases or pathogens, chemicals, and electricity.

Continuously, 67-100% of the time: Standing, walking, audible speech, speech clarity and hearing acuity. Color vision, seeing far/near.
