Requirement and Job description:
The driver may also assist with boarding and exiting the vehicle. MNDOT requirements include: A MN Class D Drivers License; A Clean Driving and Criminal record; Passing a Physical to obtain a Health card Passing a pre-employment drug test. A clean driving record is essential and a background check will be performed. Over 21? Have less than 3 moving violation in as many years?
• Pick up and drop off patients at homes, medical facilities, and other locations • Assist patients with boarding and exiting the vehicle • Ensure patients are secured safely in the vehicle • Provide first aid or CPR if needed • Report accidents to the dispatcher and request police or ambulance service if needed • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform pre-and post-trip inspections • Complete trip and vehicle logs • Maintain required licenses and certificates • Follow GPS and use maps accurately Skills and traits • Defensive driving skills • Ability to adapt to various medical situations • Strong communication skills • Ability to lift to 50 lbs • Ability to step up and down steps • Ability to transport wheelchair patients on paved and unpaved surfaces • Ability to work independently • High degree of integrity and trust Work environment NEMT drivers may work for hospitals, nursing homes, medical clinics, assisted living facilities, or rehabilitation centers.
