ESI is now hiring a Food Service Coordinator in the Stuart, FL area.
 
POSITION SUMMARY:

ESI is seeking a Food Service Coordinator who is responsible for administration of the national school lunch program (NSLP). This would include meal planning, vendor relations, and budgetary and reporting responsibilities.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate degree or equivalent educational experience and at least one-year relevant experience 
• Previous experience working with elementary school-aged children preferred.
• Must be able to complete at least 8 hours of food safety training either not more than 5 years prior to start date or completed within 30 days of start date.
• First Aid/CPR certified preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, climb, crawl, push a cart, or lift during the entire shift.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, including small packages and supplies.
• Ability to pass Level 2 background check.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain daily production records in accordance with NSLP standards. (This will include a multi-step process with multiple temperature checks.)
• Prepare daily edit checks in accordance with NSLP standards. Includes several reports run daily to determine appropriate numbers of Free, Reduced and Regular paid lunches.
• Process and verify Free and Reduced Lunch Applications in accordance with NSLP standards. Implement these applications into the Point-of-Sale system.
• Prepare Direct Certification of student enrollment as per NSLP schedule. (Three-four times per year, then upload data to FANS and POS software.)
• Prepare and maintain Master File of student benefit levels.
• Ensure the vendor meets and exceeds all health department requirements for food safety as required by the health department.
• Ensure that vendor menus meet nutritional standards.
• Approve menus for the vendor no later than two weeks prior to service (once a month the menu will be uploaded to the school website).
• Coordinate with local health officials when health inspections are being performed.
• Confirm training has been completed by vendor staff on a timely basis.
• Complete all mandatory training required by state and local government organizations for the cafeteria and food preparation.
• Serve as 504 / ADA Coordinator for the food service program.
• Update and maintain the School Food Safety HACCP plan.
• Coordinate with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Food Nutrition and Wellness (FNW) staff when the food service program is subject to review.
• Coordinates with local, state, and federal agencies when the food services program is being audited. (Typically, once per year)
• Assist in and provide the School Wellness Committee information regarding health, physical activity, and nutrition for children.
• Participate in the School Wellness Advisory Committee.
• Responsible for billing/invoicing and filing monthly reimbursement claims. (These will be created from daily reports through the approved software.)
• Monitor and collect fees associated with the on-site program.
• Create daily deposit slips for the money collected during the lunch period.
• Contact parents that owe more than $10.50 and create payment arrangements per the unpaid meal policy.
• Provide feedback as requested on the performance of the vendor.
• Communicates effectively and professionally with school administrators, staff, and parents regularly regarding the Food Service program.
• Ability to clearly convey messages regarding organizational policies, procedures, and practices.
• Ability to recognize potential issues and apply established school procedures and problem-solving methods as needed.
• Develop rapport and build relationships with faculty, staff, and member families.
• Respond to all correspondence with parents pertaining to student accounts.
• Assists in marketing of programs for growth and retention.
• Help direct proper flow of the food line and Point of Sale for a more efficient service.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Additional Information Related to the Major Functions of This Role:

The Food Service Coordinator administers the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and related programs on behalf of the school and serves as a liaison between the cafeteria vendor and the school.
 
The Food Service Coordinator will prepare daily Production Records and Edit Checks, prepare monthly reimbursement requests for the National School Lunch Program, process and verify Free and Reduced Lunch applications, prepare Direct Certification of student enrollment, ensure that vendor training is completed timely and accurate records kept, confirm that all health inspections are conducted timely, and ensure that vendor's cafeteria operations follow all sanitation and health regulations. The Food Service Coordinator keeps detailed administrative records on food service operations as required by NSLP.
 
The Food Service Coordinator may consult with the vendor to plan healthy food choices for the scholars. The Food Service Coordinator might assist with the promotion of various cafeteria or school initiatives, such as creating an environmentally friendly food service or advertising and arranging for customer donations to a local charity. 
 
The Food Service Coordinator will coordinate with the vendor for providing meals for faculty and staff on professional development days throughout the year, including the week before school begins and the week after school ends.
