Description

Brooklyn Community Recovery Center Volunteer Duties: 

  • Monitor front desk to receive visitors to the Center and provide customer service 

  • Assist with maintaining and submitting visitor logs, group sign-in sheets, and outreach sign-in sheets 

  • Support the operation of our Community Closet by assisting visitors and organizing donations 

  • Contribute to a warm and welcoming environment by preparing coffee and other hospitality items 

  • Assist group facilitators in preparing the room for activities 

  • Assist outreach staff with conducting outreach including, but not limited to, in public spaces, at community-based organizations and facilities, and at community events   

  • Role model recovery-oriented living for participants and visitors 

Knowledge (will be supported in learning during volunteerism) 

  • Trauma-informed principles for the workplace 

  • Customer-service orientation 

  • Delivering Culturally-Competent Service 

  • Working with participants in substance use and mental health services 

  • Harm-reduction principles 

Qualifications
