Stantec has an exciting opportunity for an Energy & Sustainability Consultant / Senior Consultant to join our dynamic Building Performance team in Reading.

We are currently seeking an Energy & Sustainability Consultant / Senior Consultant to join us. This is an opportunity to join a reputable group with a strong forward workload. Our projects include a wide range of public and private opportunities nationally and internationally that include some significant developments, educational buildings, commercial and industrial properties and regeneration projects from small scale local schemes to larger national frameworks. We also help clients to reduce their scope 3 carbon emissions.
You will play an important role within our team. You will support creating energy models as well as production of sustainability and energy strategies to help our client make informed decisions about their buildings and energy systems. Your role will be varied and challenging, and you will have the opportunity to learn from the wider group and take your career to the next level.

About You
The ideal candidate will hold a university degree in a relevant subject such as physics, geography, chemistry, or engineering (building services or mechanical), with an MSc in areas like Sustainability or Environmental Management considered advantageous but not essential. You should be capable of translating both abstract concepts and detailed technical requirements into clear, practical solutions, and be enthusiastic about research, self-directed learning, and applying data-driven approaches.
Strong communication skills, particularly in report writing and presentations, are essential. The role requires experience with key software tools including IESVE (especially ApacheHVAC and overheating analysis), SAP and/or SBEM for building fabric analysis, and OneClick LCA for embodied carbon assessment. Familiarity with CFD, hydraulic and energy network modelling, microgrid analysis, renewable energy modelling, Python for data analysis, and data visualisation tools such as PowerBI or Tableau is beneficial. A solid understanding of SBTi, UK building regulations (e.g., Parts L, O, S, F, CP1), and sustainability assessment frameworks like BREEAM or NABERS UK is also important.
