Job Description

ALLIANCE MANAGEROffice of Strategic Alliances and Technology Transfer (OSATT)-Alliance Management (2 openings), to play a key role in a team-based approach to the faculty-centric development and execution of sponsored research, collaboration, and related agreements.  Will act as the primary point of contact between MIT and external sponsors for specific sponsored programs, executing key strategic and tactical roles to ensure the continued success of these engagements for current or future MIT agreements; maximize the value of sponsored research, educational, and/or sponsored capacity building programs by facilitating their formation, participating in their stand up and implementation, and furthering sponsors’ engagement into new opportunities; and foster collaboration between internal and external colleagues, lend institutional knowledge to customize internal and external practices applicable to their engagements, help navigate complex terms, and serve as a knowledge resource.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; seven years’ experience working with industry or other non-U.S. government organization or nonprofit within the U.S. or internationally; ability to relate effectively with faculty and manage relationships with senior executives/officials in a large institutional environment in industry or government or with nonprofit research sponsors; ability to understand, communicate, and present complex business and technical information in sales, service, or government contexts; and ability to grasp complex issues and identify solution paths.  PREFERRED: MBA, M.S., Ph.D., or another advanced degree; experience in business-to-business technical sales, technology transfer, marketing, consulting, or international relations; direct experience in academic research sponsored programs, including an understanding of sponsor interactions related to research or education missions; knowledge of and experience at MIT; fluency with languages; and cross-cultural relationship skills.  Job #23988-11
