Lead Press Brake Operator  

Position Overview:

A Lead Press Brake Operator controls large machines used to bend and shape metal sheets within our fabrication shop. The operator will review blueprints, takes careful measurements, and feed raw material into programmed brake presses to produce custom sheets and metal parts.

Job Functions and Qualifications:

  • Maintain and set up press brake machine.
  • Ensure machine in good working order, including changing the oil, filters, degreasing various parts of press brake.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.
  • Inspect sheet metal as being shaped, inspecting pieces of fresh sheet metal for imperfections and quality issues.
  • Follow safety regulations by wearing proper protective equipment and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Use measurement and math skill to ensure quality of precision of projects
  • Use forklifts/overhead cranes and other lifting/moving devices to maneuver projects
  • Communication with Shop Foreman/Engineers and Project Managers
  • Act as main point of contact for employees in the forming department.
  • Directs, administers, and controls the day-to-day activities of facilities and programs in the Forming Department (Press Brake) area. Promoting and fostering all SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost) initiatives.
  • Other tasks as assigned/required.

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to work in shop floor environment, able to sit, stand, balance, stoop, kneel, walk and use fingers to feel objects, tools and controls.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds
  • Hours for position are dictated by workload and may require more than a typical 40-hour week.

Education/Experience:

 

  • Previous experience and certifications are preferred
  • High school graduate or equivalent

Compensation:

  • This is a full-time, performance-based position; wages are commensurate with skills and experience.
  • Medical, vision, dental, life insurance, short term disability, 401K and profit-sharing plans are available upon completion of 60 days of employment.
