Lockport. The YWCA of the Niagara Frontier, Universal Pre-K Teacher Assistant. FT. YWCA of the Niagara Frontier, Inc. Mission: The YWCA of the Niagara Frontier is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Early Childhood Mission: To create conditions for success, academically, socially, emotionally and aesthetically by providing a developmentally appropriate early childhood environment with an emphasis on meeting individual needs. Job Summary: The UPK Teacher Assistant will work under the supervision of the Early Childhood Director to oversee all aspects of a universal prekindergarten (UPK) program with goals, curriculum, activities and services consistent with the Lockport City School District and NYS regulations. YWCA Responsibilities: As an employee of the YWCA of the Niagara Frontier, the employee is responsible for, promoting and Mission, programs and services of the organization. * Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service trainings. * Must be available during the hours of 8am - 3pm. Ten months of the year. * Employee is responsible for own continued professional growth. Qualifications: * Notification from the Department of Social Services State Central Register of Abuse and Maltreatment that the direct has not be subject of an investigation report. * First Aid and CPR certificates preferred. * Ability to working with staff of diverse backgrounds and age groups. * Ability to manage children's behavior through the use of sound methods designed to develop behavior that demonstrates respect for self and others. * Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills. * Successful experience working in a collaborative, trauma informed atmosphere. * Follow all established policies and procedures. * Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control and multi-tasking. * Must be at least 18 years of age. Education and Experience: * Training and Experience with young children. Physical Requirements: * In good physical condition. * Includes standing, sitting and climbing stairs. * Able to lift and carry 30lbs or more. Job Responsivities: * Promote YWCA and Lockport City School District's early childhood mission, services and programs to organizations, individuals and agencies throughout the community. * Interacting with young children on the floor, chairs and in a gym setting. * Establish and ensure meaningful communication and interaction with children, lead teachers and Early Childhood Director. * Complete timely and accurate documentation as required by the YWCA and School District and granting sources. Example: Time Sheets for payroll. * Continue to grow personally and professionally by attending conference, workshops and presentations as appropriate. * Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.
