We are looking for an experienced Indirect Tax Manager to lead compliance, reporting, and strategic initiatives related to sales tax, use tax, personal property tax, and other indirect tax areas. This role involves ensuring accurate tax filings, managing audits, and optimizing processes to minimize risks while supporting the organization’s financial objectives. Responsibilities:
• Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of indirect tax returns, including sales tax, use tax, and personal property tax, across multiple jurisdictions.
• Establish and refine tax compliance processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Conduct research and provide interpretation of state and local tax regulations to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.
• Lead and manage audits and inquiries related to indirect taxes, including communication with tax authorities.
• Maintain and enhance tax determination systems, ensuring accurate application of tax rates to transactions.
• Collaborate with finance, accounting, and operations teams to provide strategic guidance on indirect tax matters.
• Monitor legislative changes in tax laws and implement necessary updates to ensure compliance.
• Oversee exemption certificate management processes and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
• Optimize tax automation tools and workflows to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
• Advise senior leadership on tax risks, planning opportunities, and potential process improvements.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or a closely related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
• At least six years of experience in indirect tax compliance, consulting, or taxation within industry settings.
• Proven expertise in handling multi-jurisdictional sales tax and use tax reporting.
• Strong proficiency with tax automation tools such as Vertex or Avalara.
• Advanced Excel skills, particularly in managing and analyzing large datasets.
• Exceptional analytical abilities coupled with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
