Brief Position Overview | Non-Tenure Track (NTT) faculty in the Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing teach undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses using multiple teaching strategies including in-person active learning pedagogies, simulation learning, online/web-supported strategies, and/or clinical instruction. NTT faculty are located on one of the five CON campus sites (Bozeman, Billings, Great Falls, Kalispell, and Missoula) and participate in all aspects of the faculty teaching role. NTT faculty contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and continuous quality improvement. NTT faculty work collaboratively with other faculty and staff to develop cooperative relationships with clinical agencies, practitioners, and members of other disciplines to foster cutting-edge clinical education partnerships. Position Details
General Statement | Montana State University seeks qualified individuals as non-tenure track (NTT) faculty to provide instruction and/or related functions. NTT faculty serve the Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing primarily in the teaching mission. Positions are non-tenurable. NTT faculty teach classes depending upon need and available funding. We seek individuals who embrace excellence, innovation, and inclusion in nursing education; are committed to serving the needs of diverse and rural students; and are dedicated to improving the health of Montanans by preparing tomorrow’s nursing workforce. NTT faculty teach undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses using multiple teaching strategies including in-person active learning pedagogies, simulation learning, online, distance-delivered, and clinical instruction. Applications are accepted on a continual basis (unless otherwise indicated) and will be maintained in the NTT pool for two years. After two years, candidates will be notified to re-submit materials for continued consideration. The NTT search committee reviews and evaluates submitted application materials. Applicants will be notified if their application is being retained in the NTT faculty hiring pool. Appointments are on a part-time basis and vary in duration (e.g., partial semester, full semester, academic year) depending on the specific needs of the department/program. Salary is dependent on number of courses taught and duration. The Program |
MSU Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing has been continuously approved by the Montana State Board of Nursing since its founding in 1937 and has received continuous national accreditation since 1949. MSU CON is accredited by CCNE. The baccalaureate program can be completed on any of the College’s five campus locations (Bozeman, Billings, Great Falls, Kalispell or Missoula). The Traditional BSN program admits 224 students annually. The Accelerated BSN program admits 48 students annually. Completion rates for both programs are consistently > 90%. MSU Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing NCLEX-RN® first time test taker pass rates historically have exceeded state and national rates. The Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing has also earned national recognition for excellence in its program that supports the recruitment and success of Native American nursing students, CO-OP (Caring for Our Own Program). The graduate program offers two degrees. The Master of Nursing (MN) focuses on clinical nurse leadership. Graduates are prepared to sit for the CNL certification exam. The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree has two options preparing students to take national certification exams as either Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP) or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP). Students may enter post-BSN or post-MN. The graduate program is delivered by distance via web-based or web-enhanced courses, teleconference, and internet video conferencing. Face-to-face classes are held in Bozeman once each year. Clinical supervision is provided across the state by board certified advanced practice faculty. |

The College | The Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing was founded in 1937 and has been continuously approved by the Montana State Board of Nursing since its founding and has received continuous national accreditation since 1949. The MSU College of Nursing is a multi-site program with campuses in Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Kalispell, and Missoula. MSU Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing is Montana’s primary provider of baccalaureate and graduate nursing education. The College offers a traditional BSN, accelerated BSN, Master’s degree in Nursing (MN) that prepares students as clinical nurse leaders (eligible for certification as a CNL), and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree that prepares students for certification as family nurse practitioners (FNP) or psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNP). |
