Position Summary
The Department of Biomedical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at University at Buffalo, The State University of New York sincerely invites applications for faculty positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a team environment and in a diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering is a joint venture between the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the Jacob’s School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Previous University investments in faculty and facilities have enabled the Department to position itself as a key player in the expanding biomedical and biotechnology corridor in the Buffalo-Niagara region.

The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University at Buffalo (UB) is leveraging an unprecedented faculty hiring opportunity to build on existing strengths at UB in personalized health and wellness. The Department of Biomedical Engineering is interested in candidates whose research and expertise are in personalized health and wellness including but not limited to personalized medicine, personalized devices, wearable biosensors, bio-MEMS, tissue engineering, biomedical artificial intelligence, and more.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, mentor graduate students, advise students at all levels and maintain an active research program.

Successful candidates will be expected to collaborate with scientists, engineers and clinicians in a multidisciplinary research environment spanning all Schools of the University as well as the Gates Vascular Institute, The Jacobs Institute, the New York State Center for Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. The newly launched Innovation Hub provides opportunities and resources to commercialize technology and launch new companies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in biomedical engineering, biological engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Degree must be conferred by the appointment date, or evidence provided that all academic requirements for the degree have been met.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A demonstrated record in external funding, as well as instructional experience at university level are preferred.
Physical Demands
Salary Range $90,000 - $150,000
