The position is located in the Property Management Branch of the Administrative Division at Gateway National Recreation Area. The position serves as the Property Management Specialist for the Property Management Branch and as the Accountable Officer for the park in the National Park Service (NPS) Financial and Business Management System (FBMS), responsible for the requisition , receipts processing, vendor payment, budget submission, equipment planning, end of life projections, supervising the authorization; documentation, requisition, receipt, accounting, issue, storage, lateral transfer, return and disposal of non-expendable, standard, nonstandard, and durable property items and equipment. Maintains control over park fleet operations and reporting. Plans daily, midterm and long-term workload personnel requirements and training programs to meet current and future workload. Serves as the Accountable Officer with delegated authority and accountability for the total property book. The property book supports three diverse and separate park units at Jamaica Bay, Staten Island and Sandy Hook. Responsible for processing excess and disposal according to NPS policy and procedures. Serves as the property office trainer with technical responsibility for equipment acquisition processes, and equipment identification processing.

Located in the heart of New York City, the park extends from Brooklyn to Queens, to Staten Island and Sandy Hook, New Jersey. Its 26, 000 acres include a wildlife refuge, holly forest, ocean dunes and coastal uplands, to former military fortifications, New York City's first municipal airport, and the oldest lighthouse in America. Visitors enjoy ocean beaches, organized sports, fishing, hiking, bicycling, nature study and a chance to explore the area's important cultural heritage. US Government housing may be available.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.
