JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 20841 The College of Integrated Studies at the
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Rock County seeks an Academic
Advisor (AE002). JOB DETAILS: This is a full-time academic advisor
position with responsibilities in both the Solution Center and TRIO SSS
departments on the Rock County campus in Janesville, WI. This is a
highly cross trained position which will require a strong understanding
of the institutional and system protocol for the areas of admissions,
advising, financial aid, accessibility, and enrollment services. This
position is student focused and will require candidates to understand
diverse student needs, placement test scores, select proper courses for
the intended major, explore career and transfer opportunities. Typical
hours of this position are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday-Friday. Occasional
evening hours may be required. The advising position engages students in
decision making processes and promotes appropriate and responsible
choices on academic matters such as course selection and degree
requirements. Maintains appropriate confidentiality, updates student
advising records, and contributes to the development and delivery of
academic advising related events and programs. Works to ensure students
receive accurate, timely, and holistic advising services in support of
promoting student success, retention, and program completion. Strives to
create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist Solution Center with advising which includes
helping students with program planning, course selection, degree
requirements, registration and schedule review Determine the type of
academic, personal and social support services needed by students and
refer for those services. Provide each student with academic, transfer,
career, financial aid and financial literacy advising several times each
semester. Maintain timely records of all student contacts and prepare
reports on student progress and the delivery of support services.
Maintain confidentiality and accurate student records in Navigate
concerning scheduled advising appointments and respond to academic
inquiries according to established institutional and Family Rights and
Privacy Action (FERPA) policies. Utilize all software programs and
available technology when advising students Recommend eligible students
for TRIO SSS program participation. Assist those who are not fulfilling
TRIO SSS program expectations, or who are in academic jeopardy, and
facilitate delivery of needed services. Meet regularly with TRIO SSS
staff to assess needs and monitor progress of individual students.
Assist with advising, calling campaigns, progress reports and Navigate
notes for all students assigned students The advisor will be located on
the Rock County campus with time split between the TRIO SSS office and
the Solution Center. Assist staff with programs related to the
recruitment, retention, orientation, and registration of students
including SOAR and Welcome Back events. Cross trained in all
consolidated areas of the Solution Center and TO ENSURE CONSIDERATION:
