POSITION: Code Compliance Officer
DUTIES:
* Respond to, investigate, and resolve citizen and neighborhood disputes
and complaints of Animal Control issues in the City of Montrose and determine
appropriate course of action.
* Impound stray, vicious, nuisance and abandoned animals. Perform frequent
directed patrols of public parks, large parking lots, and the cemetery.
Dispose of all deceased animals from roadways.
* Issue summons and complaints or penalty assessments to suspected offenders
and prepare documentation for first appearances in court including appropriate
sentencing recommendations. Prepare documentation for court trials and testify
in court. Complete MIR's and IR's report narratives in a timely manner.
* Actively participate in community policing projects and present educational
programs for local civic organizations, schools and law enforcement agencies.
REQUIREMENTS:
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
* New hire animal control officers must successfully complete the mandatory
twelve week field training program with the Field Training Officer.
* Current Colorado driver's license with acceptable record.
* All candidates are subject to a pre-employment background check and drug
screen.
