12 hour shift:  5:45 pm - 6:00 am

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Performs routine set-ups of injection molding presses, set-up, and adjusts support equipment as needed for this process.             

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Work assignments require technical and mechanical skill sets.  Perform routine set up of injection molding presses, set-up and adjusts support equipment. Clean, lubricate, and make minor repairs or replacement of parts for proper and continuous operation and upkeep of machines and fixtures.  Coordinate the flow and control of raw materials and packaging through the molding department.  Maintains record of accurate issue and return transactions of raw material and packaging.  Coordinate with the supervisor on what change orders will be completed. Issues raw material and process use by pre-drying and mixing when required.  Moves full hoppers to and from the presses.  Movement of material gaylords to and from the presses.  Returns materials from the presses back to material storage areas.  Cleans hoppers, grinders, and presses at changeovers.  Purges and re-starts molding presses.  Assure that vacuum-loading system is working properly, and filters are clean.  Performs general housekeeping duties.  Sets up secondary equipment such as end of arm tooling and manufacturing equipment.  Coordinates with the next tour’s employees to communicate production and process problems to assure efficient operations.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Persons in this job must be able to sit and/or stand all day (up to 10 hours), manually lift and carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull containers of wire/cable or assemblies which may weigh up to several hundred pounds (either on dollies or on edge-not dead weight) rotate to various assignments involving various working conditions within their job description, perform high and low repetition jobs, perform all aspects of their job, perform fine manipulations, firm grasping and firm cutting (up to 25 pounds of pressure periodically) and be able to use hand tools including but not limited to tweezers, wire cutters, wire crimpers, screw drivers, pliers, soldering irons, cable cutters, utility knifes etc., manually push, pull and bend wire and cable, work through a range of motions from ground up to and including above shoulder height, bend and twist from the waist.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED

High School diploma or G.E.D. Certification required.  

Minimum of 2 years of plastic injection molding experience or applicable experience
