SALARY INFORMATION
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $47,000 - $63,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Nature Conservancy is leading a 60-million-dollar USDA Climate Smart Commodity Grant to advance Agroforestry in the U.S. This 5-year project will catalyse private investments into the agroforestry industry with the goal of increasing farmers income and delivering environmental benefits such as carbon sequestration, soil health, biodiversity, and water quality. Our goal is to leverage partnerships and incentive programs to get 30,000 acres of new agroforestry plantings in the next 5 years.

The Tri-State Chapter (MN, ND, SD) is seeking an Agroforestry Education and Outreach Specialist to research the current work and partnerships in MN, help build capacity in nursery and seedling production, and build a coalition of agroforestry farmers, educators, and agency staff. Under this project, agroforestry practices will include silvopasture, windbreaks, and alley cropping. The Specialist will be responsible for:

Creating a network of agroforestry practitioners across the state, collaborating with state agencies to expand understanding and capacity around agroforestry.
Supporting Minnesota's farmers in implementing and expanding diverse agroforestry practices.
Developing and lead educational trainings both in person and virtually to build a network of diverse landowners and other interested parties.
Collaborating with MN Million team on tree nursery development.
Collaborating with the Savanna Institute to identify ways to align priorities and learn how best to engage state agencies to support agroforestry practices.
Reporting on project progress, milestones, and challenges.
Leveraging various tools and technologies to facilitate agroforestry adoption.
Conducting assessment of network and producers in the state already engaging in agroforestry.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU
As a Specialist, you will serve as Minnesota chapter's primary point of contact with our partners under a USDA Partnership for 5-year Climate Smart Commodities Grant, designed to promote regenerative agroforestry practices by incentivizing farmers, developing markets, conducting Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV), and creating the enabling conditions for the rapid growth of agroforestry practices.

The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about sustainable agriculture and agroforestry, knowledgeable about Indigenous crops and cropping systems, works well independently and as part of a team, is responsible and detail oriented, and has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Moreover, the successful candidate will be able to interact positively and collaboratively with all TNC member-farmers, staff, partner organizations, suppliers, customers, and the community at large.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience in natural resource management or similar field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience managing staff or volunteers.
Relationship building experience to work closely with a variety of partners
Experience completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s).
Experience with communication via written, spoken and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, etc.
Experience in training.
