Engineering Analyst Lead, Photos and Google One

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 7 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • 12 years of experience working on signal development, data analysis, cyber security, or anti-abuse, with 2 year of leadership experience managing other engineers/technical roles.
  • 7 years of experience or familiarity with one or more of the following languages: SQL, R, Python, Golang, and/or C++.
  • Experience in querying and analyzing large datasets, including time-series data and performing statistical analysis.
  • Ability to deliver persuasive, concise communications for various audiences, reflecting a nuanced understanding of the audiences.

The Photos and Google One Trust & Safety (T&S) team works across the two products to provide the best protections and user experience. We are responsible for keeping the products free from unwanted interactions, malware, phishing, and egregious content like violent extremism, hate speech, and misinformation. We make sure both Photos and Google One continue to be sustainable businesses by protecting our offerings from malicious actors. We collaborate with User Protections, T&S Workspace, T&S Youtube, and many more teams.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional teams across the company to develop advanced solutions and machine learning algorithms to improve our protection coverage, identify new trends and vulnerabilities, and influence company-wide direction and strategies in the Counter-Abuse space.
  • Develop processes and priorities alongside cross-functional teams to set and reach trust, safety, and sustainability goals at a product area level, and identify operational and tooling improvements to our Counter-Abuse processes to improve quality, precision, recall, and turn-around-time.
  • Review or be exposed to sensitive or violative content in line with Google's policies.
  • Prepare and conduct adversarial safety testing sessions for product features leveraging GenAI or ML models.
  • Create, ramp up, expand, and manage a new Trust and Safety team dedicated to protecting Google Photos and Google One users and products.
