Data Engineer, gTech Analytics, Platforms and Tools

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in one or more object oriented programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, or Python, etc.).
  • 2 years of experience designing data models, data warehouses, and using SQL and NoSQL database management systems, along with data processing using traditional and distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience managing projects and working with analytics, software coding, or customer-side web technologies.
  • Experience and knowledge of the software development cycle.
  • Experience designing data warehouses for business performance management.
  • Experience writing and maintaining ETLs which operate on a variety of structured and unstructured sources.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

gTech’s Product and Tools Operations team (gPTO) leverages deep user, operational, and technical insights to innovate Google's Ads products into customer experiences that are so intuitive (or automated) that they require no support at all. gPTO partners closely with gTech’s Support, Professional Services, Product Management, and Engineering teams to innovate and simplify our Ads products and build the productivity tools ecosystem for gTech users.

In this role, you will be part of a team that works to ensure users have access to aligned, accurate, and useful business metrics and dimensions, that support their operations. In understanding the user needs, the team partners directly with operations, analytics, as well as central strategy teams to align and define operations data concepts. To deliver reporting, the team partners with the Customer Engineering (CE) and Tools Development and Automation (TDA) organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage business processes, tools, and customer expectations to drive impact.
  • Design, implement, test, and troubleshoot analytics and reporting solutions to solve business performance management challenges.
  • Collaborate with and influence business and engineering stakeholders to ensure data infrastructure and products meets the evolving requirements.
  • Work with analysts to productionize analytics and reporting prototypes, and various statistical and machine learning models.
  • Write and review technical documents, including design, requirements, and process documentation.
