Job Description
Syracuse University School of Architecture – a top-ranked research institution that is committed to building a diverse faculty – seeks candidates for a full-time tenure-track position in Building Systems and Technology at the Assistant Professor rank starting in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Qualifications
Professional or terminal degree in architecture or related field.
Job Specific Qualifications
The School of Architecture seeks applicants with expertise in the areas of (including, but not limited to): material assemblies and fabrication, structural systems, building sciences, and/or environmental design, as well as the ability to support the instruction of design studio in matters of structure, construction, and assembly at all levels. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate a potential for recognized research that may include built work, theoretical explorations, advocacy, creative work, and/or scholarship in the form of publications, exhibitions, or grants. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to integrate their research interests, creative work, or professional practice into their teaching. We encourage applications from members of historically underrepresented groups, and candidates with experience teaching and working with diverse communities and students.
Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities include required core lectures and elective courses in building systems design and building technologies and may include design studio instruction and/or support. Responsibilities also include working towards an internationally recognized research and/or professional profile, serving the school, university, and greater community, and fostering an equitable and inclusive student experience.

Applicants should submit (1) a resume/CV, (2) a list with three academic and/or professional references; letters of recommendation will be required for the finalists, (3) a portfolio of scholarship/creative work (this should be submitted using the “Other Document” field within the application site); candidates with teaching experience should also submit sample syllabi and student work samples as part of their portfolio, and (4) a letter of intent which includes the candidate’s positions on teaching, research, and approach to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in their research, teaching and service (this should be submitted using the “Teaching Philosophy” field within the application site).
