Purpose
The Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives – Employee Experience plays a critical role in shaping and advancing the employee experience strategy for Global Transaction Banking (GTB). This role is responsible for designing and executing high-impact initiatives that foster engagement, enable performance, and strengthen GTB’s culture across a global footprint. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, the Senior Manager ensures alignment with enterprise priorities while driving programs that are scalable, inclusive, and grounded in data and employee insights.
What you’ll do:
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Leads the design and evolution of GTB’s global employee experience strategy by:
- Translating employee insights into scalable, high-impact programs that enhance engagement, performance, and culture.
- Identifying opportunities to improve the employee journey and reduce friction across the lifecycle.
- Overseeing the GTB Pulse Forum and supporting VP-level action planning to ensure feedback drives meaningful change.
- Championing an inclusive, end-to-end view of the employee experience through cross-functional and cross-regional collaboration.
- Monitoring and prioritizing EX initiatives in partnership with Leaders and HRBPs to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Leads the delivery of flagship programs and the enablement of HR initiatives that support employee development, recognition, and engagement by:
- Delivering GTB’s signature employee programs, which vary in complexity and scale, with a focus on global inclusion and impact (e.g., Best of the Best, Master Class, Leadership Roundtables, and Leadership and Learning Showcases).
- Overseeing the GTB Onboarding Program, including orientation, buddy program, and co-op experience, to ensure a consistent and engaging start for new employees.
- Partnering with HR, Learning & Development, and Talent Acquisition to localize and activate enterprise programs in a way that reflects GTB’s unique needs.
- Managing budget planning and resource allocation for EX initiatives, including forecasting, negotiation, and alignment with annual priorities.
- Creating opportunities for employees to grow, connect, and be recognized through thoughtfully designed experiences.
- Advising Leadership on program performance, employee sentiment, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Manages direct reports and plays a leadership role within the broader team by:
- Providing coaching, guidance, and support to ensure successful execution of plans and activities.
- Fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture aligned with GTB’s values and priorities
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with partners across all three business segments (Corporate, Commercial, and Business Banking), and collaborates closely with the support functions that enable these partnerships to ensure alignment, transparency, and shared success.
- Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions, ensuring all initiatives are delivered with appropriate risk awareness and compliance.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive, values-driven workplace by promoting open communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in employee experience, organizational development, or strategic program management, preferably within financial services or a large, matrixed organization.
- Proven success in leading cross-functional initiatives and delivering enterprise-aligned employee programs.
- Strong relationship management skills with a track record of influencing senior leaders and collaborating across business lines.
- Demonstrated strategic planning, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear, compelling messages.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel); experience with SharePoint and collaboration tools is an asset.
- Manages the employee experience portfolio across GTB, supporting over 1,500 employees globally.
- Oversees onboarding and early talent programs, including the Co-op Program and new hire experience.
- Leads the design and execution of GTB’s employee programs, which vary in complexity and often require cross-functional and cross-regional coordination. (15+ programs)
- Supports global engagement through initiatives that span multiple regions, languages, and business lines.
- Applies strong project and change management capabilities to deliver initiatives that align with enterprise priorities and GTB’s evolving needs.
- Operates in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, balancing multiple priorities and stakeholder expectations.
- This role requires the ability to manage confidential and sensitive projects with professionalism and discretion.
Work Arrangement:
This position requires the incumbent to work well under pressure, responding quickly to changing priorities and very short deadlines and managing projects of a confidential or sensitive nature.
