Shelby Machine is a well-established Machining and Fabrication Job-Shop with a significant customer base located in central Alabama. We are known to excel in meeting our customers' expectations and provide a quality product.

Salary:
$30 to $35 an hour
JOB SUMMARY
At Shelby Machine, our objective is to develop excellence in machine design and custom parts. Each position contributes to the success of the company through accountability, responsiveness, and a solutions-oriented mindset. The Welder/Fitter is responsible for using MIG welding equipment to manufacture parts and assemblies as required, meeting defined production schedules.
JOB DUTIES
Essential Job Functions :• Prepares and sets up necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs.
• Arranges parts for welding and staging processes.
• Builds welded assemblies for new products and changes to existing products per engineering documents and established production standards.
• Reports fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required.
• Participates in and attends cross functional meetings as required.
• Supports the Quality Assurance department with respect to jig & fixture evaluation.
• Ensures compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
• Operates other necessary equipment and performs tasks necessary to complete parts to specifications.
• Performs additional duties as required.

· Assures that equipment is in good working condition and maintained in proper working order
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position may require any/all of the following during the course of operating machines in the Machine Shop:

Frequently required to stand
Frequently required to walk
Frequently required to sit
Hand/eye coordination is required
Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
Occasionally required to lift/push/carry heavy items
Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather)
Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts

SKILLS
· Ability to Read, Interpret, and Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
· Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances utilizing micrometers & calipers
· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane, solid geometry and some trigonometry.
· Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
· Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Able to use a computer for job data entry efficiency.
· Willingness to work individually and/or in a team environment.
· Ability to read and interpret 2-D part drawings.
· Possess a mechanical aptitude for basic machining issues.
· Possess knowledge in Basic Machine Shop Practice & Measurement Methods.
QUALIFICATIONS
· EXPERIENCE: 1+ years of Fabrication and Welding (Verification of most recent pay will be a condition of employment. Candidates will be expected to provide most current paystub.)
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position will require the ability to work under pressing conditions in a professional and responsive manner and will work in a Machine / Fabrication Shop within a Manufacturing environment, and as such, will encounter some dust/dirt, and noise/vibration. Must have a “CAN DO” attitude to drive projects through to completion, displaying the ability to obtain results through an influential demeanor.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
