Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY 

This is entry-level of the job family, involving general clerical/office work of limited scope which can typically be learned on the job and which calls for minimal previous office experience or training.  An incumbent is trained on the job to use basic general office support equipment and skills.

Incumbents regularly perform a limited range of duties that are repetitive in nature, with little variability, and become routine shortly after the initial training period.  Well-defined procedural guidelines and/or verbal instructions are followed in performing the majority of tasks and work typically impacts only the immediate work unit or department.  Work is performed under direction, but due to the routine nature of the work, direct supervision is typically minimal once an employee demonstrates ability to complete tasks.

A PC or computer terminal is typically used to view, enter or update routine data.

Essential Job Functions

  • This job exists in multiple departments, and while there may be minor differences in job content, they are not significant for classification purposes.  Overall, the nature of the work and job requirements are consistent between departments.
  • Provides basic clerical and/or customer service support to department, including activities such as answering phones, filing, faxing/photocopying, distributing mail and/or activities of similar level and complexity.
  • Performs routine reviews of data for accuracy, quality and adherence to guidelines/procedures for the assigned department.
  • Uses a PC, computer terminal or other office equipment to perform basic activities such as looking up/entering/retrieving data, scanning work output/data and/or maintaining routine forms/documents in accordance with established procedures
  • Performs department-specific task-oriented special assignments, independently or as a member of a work team, as assigned.
  • Regular communication with vendors on invoices.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements

  • Any combination of experience, education or training that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities.  Previous PC training/experience is preferred.
  • AP experience is a plus.
