Position Overview

As a Superintendent you will play a significant part in the success for Kiewit’s Southern California District. You will function as a field supervisor and may have responsibility for multiple Foreman, and/or laborers/craft workers. You will be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, workmanship, and assignment of work to accomplish the execution of the work, either directly or through General Foreman or Foreman. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architect/engineer, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

District Overview

Kiewit’s Southern California District is one of Kiewit’s leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil projects that include earth moving, water/wastewater, transportation, roadways, and power projects. Most of our work is concentrated in the Southern California region. 

Location

We are looking for Superintendents to work out of one of our many SoCal based projects. This position could be located in Santa Fe Springs, Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, San Fernando Valley and/or Glendora, CA.

Responsibilities

•    Provide supervisory direction of craft workers via the general foreman and foreman, managing the performance of productivity, safety, quality and schedule adherence
•    Liaison between field engineering and craft to ensure compliance of construction drawings and specifications
•    Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor levels, material quantities, and equipment requirements
•    Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management meeting for communication)
•    Develop a program to maintain good client relations involving staff on site
•    Initiate and attend supplementary and regular meetings with client for problem resolution and planning
•    Oversee and approve the monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections 
•    Ensure project rules, procedures and programs are followed consistently, including those involving safety, attendance, and workplace behavior standards as reflected in Company’s non-harassment and nondiscrimination policies
•    Maintain daily diary for record keeping purposes
•    Mentor and help to grow fellow Kiewit staff
•    Ensure that all performance evaluations and completed in a timely fashion for direct reports
 

Qualifications

•    5+ years of construction experience with 3+ years in a Superintendent/leadership capacity
•    Associated or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred 
•    Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, union agreements and jurisdictional issues, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents
•    Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
•    Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit’s policies, procedures and software programs. 
•    Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise. 
•    Excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills. 
•    Strong experience in Leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration
•    Ability to access all areas on a construction project site

Base Compensation: $87,319 - $206,336

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
