The Apple Service Engineering(ASE) team builds and provides systems and infrastructure that power Apple’s services (such as iCloud, iTunes, Siri, and Maps). Apple Service Engineering (ASE)’s Compute team is seeking an experienced software engineer to build and enhance infrastructure to generate Kubernetes clusters that can scale to meet the demands of Apple’s Services offerings. You will work with world-class engineers on core components of Kubernetes with an emphasis on controllers and infrastructure to vend clusters to help fit Apple’s diverse needs while engaging with the upstream community to drive Apple’s requirements. Ultimately, you will help build the platform that delivers our applications at scale to our end users.
As part of the ASE Compute organization, you will: * Partner with teams across Apple to develop features and functionality that enable Kubernetes clusters to meet their needs around container orchestration. * Improve the scalability, availability, and performance of our services centered around Kubernetes * Evolve the design and architecture to support continued growth while ensuring customer satisfaction and smooth operations * Partner with SRE to triage, investigate, and remediate production issues
  • At least 5+ years and Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering-related field, or equivalent related experience.
  • Strong experience with building and scaling core components of Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems
  • Experience with Cluster API and related technologies to generate Kubernetes clusters preferred
  • Highly proficient in Golang
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to drive a project from a simple idea to production
  • Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
