Job Description:
Who will you be working with?
L&M Radiator, Inc., a Wabtec Company, is a global designer, manufacturer, and distributor of MESABI cooling and heat transfer solutions that are custom-made for heavy equipment in the mining, oil, gas, construction and heavy industrial industries. We are looking for an individual to join our Research and Development team. The R&D Assembler position will work directly with our R&D team to test, develop, design, and problem solve prototypes, equipment, machines, tools and products. This role may also work with suppliers and other departments within our company such as Maintenance, Assembly, Tubing, Welding, Machine Shop, Paint, and Steel Prep.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Research and Development Team, you will be responsible for creating, designing, assembling and testing R&D equipment, heat exchangers and fixtures. This position is designed for someone who is creative, self-motivated, and has strong problem-solving skills. A successful candidate will take initiative, like working independently, have experience using hand and power tools, knowledgeable in a variety of welding and fabrication skills including sheet metal work. This position reports to the R&D Manager on dayshift hours Monday-Friday.

• High school diploma or GED with 1 year of work experience.
• Strong mechanical ability and experience using power tools and forklift when necessary.
• Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Self- motivation.
What will your typical day look like?
• Build and test various types of heat exchangers and test fixtures.
• Build, assemble & test prototype and production machinery.
• Observe, guide and assist with training.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
• Perform work in a safe manner & follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
• Domestic and international travel possible and could include weekend travel depending on the project.
• Performs related work or job duties as required by supervisor.
• Assist with running tests.

What about the physical demands of the job?
• Wear correct PPE – earplugs, protective eye wear, steel-toed boots, and work provided uniform (gloves and welding equipment when necessary).
• Lift a minimum of 50lbs.
• Stand on concrete for 8-10 hours.
• Work in high heat conditions.
• Use power tools while standing, twisting, crouching, standing on step ladder, or holding them above your head.
• Practice and maintain safe work conditions.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

This role is also eligible for a performance bonus.
