NY1495599 Lifeguard (PT) Salary: $16.00 per hour Mohawk Valley Community College provides accessible, high-quality educational opportunities to meet the diverse needs of our students. The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking part-time Lifeguards to supervise the activities of swimmers in our pool area. Candidates may apply to work for the Center for Corporate & Community Education (CCED) or the Athletics Department, or both. Applying to this posting will make you eligible for both opportunities. Key responsibilities for this position include: Ensure the safety of swimmers by enforcing the pool rules and regulations, preventing accidents and responding timely to emergency situations Present professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high standard of customer service Communicate with other lifeguards, water safety instructors and supervisors Substitute for other staff members as needed The hours for this position will be dependent on the availability of the applicant. Daytime, evening and weekend shifts are available. Qualifications: Current Lifeguard and CPR/AED certifications at the time of application Availability to work during the week (mornings and evenings) as well as weekends if necessary Effective communication skills and the ability to engage positively with the public Self-motivated with the ability to work without constant supervision Willingness to assist with swim lessons should the need arise For those who are not certified or need recertification, MVCC may offer the certification at a reduced cost upon request.
