DESCRIPTION:
The Build/Test Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing mechanical designs (CAD models) and component and test system manufacturing to support development of USNC’s advanced nuclear power systems ranging from the Micro Modular Reactor (MMR), transportable reactor power system (Pylon), Nuclear Thermal Propulsion (NTP) to Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator (RTG) systems, and USNC fuel and reactor facility development. The Build/Test Mechanical Engineer will interface with the design teams for the advanced nuclear systems, assist/develop CAD models for components of these systems and be responsible for manufacturing test components using in-house equipment or overseeing external contracts for manufacturing such components. This complex, multi-disciplinary work will require outside-the-box thinking and close attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
LOCATION OF WORK and TRAVEL:
The position will be based at our Pilot Fuel Manufacturing (PFM) Facility in Oak Ridge, TN. Minimal travel is expected for this position.
