ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional Land and Environment Manager is responsible for optimizing designated company land assets by improving land management performance and processes along with optimization and implementation of environment-related processes and compliance assurance programs in the assigned in the Mid Atlantic Region. This includes the implementation and ongoing improvement of environment and land policies in the area, consistent with Holcim priorities and policies as well as compliance with relevant regulations. Also provides key leadership in the development and execution of community and public relations.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Manage property acquisitions and divestitures, from negotiation to closing, ensuring legal compliance and facilitating due diligence efforts; including the development and facilitating of Capital Improvement and Restoration Expenditure Requests and participation in the financial and risk/opportunity evaluation of each project. Manage company owned property leases and processes, including lease requirements, conditions, critical dates, negotiation, drafting legal documents, and coordinating due diligence efforts. Manage the preparation, maintenance and sustaining of mining and reclamation and related land permits. Assist with due diligence for greenfield site development and mine site acquisition or divestiture. Maintain knowledge of State/Local and Federal laws concerning land issues and reclamation. Coordinate with accounting staff to ensure timely payment of royalties and other required payments.
- Prepare environmental documentation for approval and license/permit applications for new or existing operations ensuring they are completed accurately, completely, and on time. Manage compliance for all area plants and operations with site-specific compliance issues such as air permits, renewals, extensions, and compliance demonstrations. Advise management on regulatory requirements and land-related issues, including zoning, providing critical and strategic thinking to identify and minimize risks while maximizing value.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the public, regulators, and local authorities through timely coordination and community relations initiatives.
- Promote a culture of safety within the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience.
Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Environmental Sciences, Geology, Business or Equivalent
Required Work Experience: 5-10 years
Required Training/Certifications: Formal training in leadership, team building, continuous improvements and related fields.
Licenses Preferred: Professional Engineer
Required Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and various other programs
Travel Requirements: Up to 50% travel within the region
Additional Requirements:
- Highly organized self-starter with the ability to successfully manage simultaneous projects and priorities with minimal supervision
- In-depth understanding of applicable government regulations and pertinent legislation.
- Experience reading and understanding USGS maps.
- Comfort and solid familiarity with public relations, public presentations, and communications with groups of traditional community members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and work in a cross-disciplinary team environment.
- Ability to travel to external locations and attend public meetings sometimes at night.

- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
