    DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    The Neurology Clinic at UW Medical Center - Montlake cares for patients referred for conditions of the central and peripheral nervous systems, including neuromuscular diseases.

    We offer comprehensive consultation, evaluation and treatment services for adults with neurological disorders. We treat a variety of neurological conditions, including muscle weakness, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, neuropathy, movement disorders and dizziness.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide leadership to medical assistants
  • Schedule and assign medical assistants to ensure appropriate staffing
  • Train medical assistants and others and serve as a resource to other clinical providers
  • Participate in the interview process for medical assistants and other clinical hires
  • Train and orient new employees
  • Manage clinic flow using organizational ability to effectively prioritize work tasks to ensure that patients are seen in a timely manner and that clinic needs are met
  • Provide accurate, appropriate, and culturally sensitive education to clinic patients
  • Oversee coordination of care by assisting providers in the maintenance of clinic processes to ensure timely follow-up on reported test results
  • Perform related duties as required

    REQUIREMENTS
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board  OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
